A full weekend shoot
I’ve been on the hunt for paw paws again this year – last year, I found out that I *just* missed a paw paw festival that was held in Brooklyn.
I was determined not to miss it again this year.
I RSVP’ed a while ago and forgot about it until my producer asked me if I could shoot that weekend.
He was super cool and let me shoot around the festival so, this past weekend, Chad, myself, and the team did a full weekend shoot – something we’ve not done in quite a while.
That was for a number of reasons, least of which is that they wanted to pair Chad and me up with all the new people to kinda introduce them to our audience.

But, evidently, people wanted to see the two of us work together so that was nice.
Honestly, it’d been a while since he and had this much fun on a shoot. It was nice.
The first day’s shoot went fine and one of the videos from that day is already up.
The problem was on Sunday, the second day.
See, the night before, I had another bout of insomnia, so I barely slept any.
I was beyond exhausted after just the first shoot that day but, luckily, most of my heavy lifting was done the day before as the Saturday shoots were mostly mine while the Sunday shoots were mostly Chad’s.
Sara brought the boys over to the shoot so that we could all head over to the festival together.
Me: Can you two do me a favour? Can you take pics for me for my blog?
Sara and the kid: Sure.
Me: (looking at some of the pictures afterward) Dud, why did you take a picture of my butt and circle it?
Him: (laughs) I don’t know…it’s your butt!
I’m fairly sure this is how Picasso got started.
We were only supposed to do two shoots on Sunday, but I felt bad that we were ending early because of me, so I pushed through and did one more.
Her: You know 600 people RSVP’d for this festival, right? We’re probably not even going to get anything.
Me: Shoot. I’ve been looking forward to this for months. (thinking) But I am exhausted…
Her: It’s your call here.
Me: Let’s just head back. (shaking head) You guys can go out for dinner.
Was so tired that I couldn’t eat; I just wanted to get home and crash.
I went home and promptly went to bed where I was out for a while.
Of course, the moment I got up, I was ravenous, but that’s really neither here nor there.
I’m bummed that I missed the festival – yet again – but it was a great shoot, and I was glad that the kids and Sara got to stop by.
I suppose there’s always next year…
Location: the gym, fighting with only one hand
