Surgery is looking likely
Her: I sent your MRI to that doctor.
Me: It’s actually good that I have it now. I can reach out to other doctors, too.
Her: (reading online) This says you should use a walker to alleviate your symptoms.
Me: (nodding slowly)
Her: (laughs hysterically)
Me: We don’t need to keep talking right now.
My back issues don’t seem to be improving.
They’re not getting worse, which is a plus, but that’s the only positive thing I can say.
The BJJ surgeon actually wrote me outta the blue the other day:
Evidently, he had a good friend that is a great back surgeon, but he figured if he gave me her number, I’d never call and he would have told her to expect a message and he didn’t wanna waste her time.
That’s sensible.
So, Sara’s been working on trying to get me an appointment to maybe finally get surgery on my back as it’s looking more likely I’m gonna have to get it done soon.
At this point, it’s been close to two years since I first hurt my back and I’m just tired of constantly being in pain so something’s gotta give.
I mean, besides my sanity.
Then again, I’ve got Sara to keep me grounded.
Her: (continuing, very amused) You know you’re only two years away from being able to live in a retirement community like The Villages?
Me: Yeah, but I don’t play golf, it would be such a waste.
Her: (amused) You could play bocce ball with the guy down the street.
Me: I don’t think…
Her: You two can compare back surgery stories! (cackles with laughter)
Me: Are you done yet?
Her: (laughing hysterically) And, when your gout flares up, he can give you advice!
Me: Are you happy with yourself here?
Her: (nodding and continuing to laugh) I can’t breathe…
Me: (sighs)
Yeah, pretty grounded there.
