The sun always shines on TV

When I was a kid, there was a song called Take On Me that had a happy ending. But there was a sad sequel that few know about. I’m hoping my wife and I have a happy sequel. We can only wait to find out.

The love of my life is sick

When I was a kid, the hottest music video was a song called Take On Me. In it, a comic book character comes to life to be with a woman he loves. It ends with them happily together.

Unfortunately, there’s a follow-up video that few people heard of called The Sun Always Shines on TV, where you learn the rest of the story – he cannot stay and they don’t end up happily ever after.

I once said that all stories end sad; every relationship that matters will always end in tears. That’s the nature of the world. But I think the unexpected tragedies are the hardest. That’s when life knocks you to your knees and you can’t stand up again.

My wife is sick. And on top of the sickness, we have all the bonuses that come with the sickness – the fear, the uncertainty, the loss of control, etc.

Yet I hold out hope that somehow, this isn’t all of our story. That we can find a happy sequel to this news. And in the end, I want what everyone wants when they love someone – for them to stay.

Please stay with us. Please stay with me.

Hey Logan – I hope that you’re able to keep your spirits up. I saw the updates on fb, but it’s always been here that I’ve gotten to know you so I thought I’d drop a line here. Stay well and kisses to the family.

Alana, we’re trying. We’ve known each other so long through this blog, it’s nice knowing you’re still out there and involved. I’ll send kisses to the family per your request.

Oh…Logan…my heart breaks for you. You and your family will be constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you, Charity, we do appreciate it. My heart is shattered and I’m trying to piece it together right now as well.

Hang in there Logan!! Hugs and hugs!! Must be very difficult to see the love of your life in pain. Stay strong and positive. Will be praying for you and your wife. Your family will be in my thoughts.

Thanks, Sara, for the thoughts and prayers. It’s nice knowing so many people care.

Dear Logan,
As I read your posts my heart begins to break all that much more… I say that much more, because I lost my husband Bob of 32 years on March 10th 2015 after a 6 year battle with GBM. I can so relate to what you and your family are going through, however your journey is even harder it seems. We had already raised our children, and had many wonderful years together before this ” beast” knocked at our door. I too have written in the past to VP Biden, hoping that some how his voice can be heard over the all the bureaucratic noise. My ONLY wish is that GBM, but all cancers are cured or at the very least treatment that gives us all hope where there is none today. No one would choose this fight, but those of us who have been thrust into it know the urgency. Your facts are right on, and I completely feel your frustration. I will continue to follow your families journey, and pray for that miracle. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful wife and baby.

That’s terrible to read, I’m so sorry. I don’t think anyone wants to ever receive such news, but I do feel that Alison’s been bearing more than her fair share of pain. I hope that perhaps Biden, or someone, can do something to help people like Alison and others in her position.

All the best from NYC, MaryAnn.

Hey Logan, not sure if this is the right time, but then again when is it ever? As a fellow new wave nerd, “The sun always shines on TV” is one of my favorite lesser known tracks by Aha and I sampled it on a track I made years ago. Maybe it’s a source of some solace or not (as with all music), but the coincidence was too strong to not share. If you’re up for it, give a listen (yet nothing beats the original, of course.)
